New iPhones generally don’t need to be explained, but the Air is a different sort of iPhone. On a purely practical level, it could be viewed as a (very) glowed-up replacement to the iPhone 16 Plus. However, the Air starts at $999, which is $100 more than the launch price of last year’s closest Apple equivalent (or $200 more after its recent price drop).
